The School of Regional Studies and International Relations offers BA programs in the following concentrations:
a) European Studies (Great Britain, France and Germany)
b) American Studies (US)
c) Scandinavian Studies (mostly focusing on Norway)
e) Middle East and Israeli Studies
f) Azerbaijani Studies
g) International Relations



The School is equipped with state-of -the-art literature conce rning internati onal relations, glo bal political, economic, cul tu ral issues as well as histo ry, geography, political and economic life and cultural processes of the stated regions. Highly qualified specialists and experts are involved in the teaching process. Students have unique opportunities to interact with the famous local and international political leaders, public figures, diplomatic representatives, and academic personalities who are frequently invited as guest lecturers or visiting professors. A unique resource center, which includes books, journals, and reviews reflecting the most recent ideas and thorough analyses in the area, has been made available for the students. The students also use resources collected at the American center, Israeli and Middle East Center , Scandinavian Enter, German Reading Room located at the University campuses.



He curriculums have been designed to provide students with broad exposure to the theories of international relations and modern politics, global economic processes, and regional issues, to develop their analytical and critical thinking, and to build up their research capabilities.

Both the program of International Studies and the programs concentrating in specific regions offer a profound study of such problems of national and international security, sustainable human development, globalization processes, conflict resolution and diplomatic service, provide detailed information about international and regional organizations, build a solid basis in general education area such as psychology, logic, philosophy, history and geography, and develop the students' language potential and self-presentation skills.

The programs in regional studies allow students to study the relevant region as a complex as well as in relationship with specific countries. The programs have essential language components envisioning a thorough study of the language of the region and an additional foreign language.

The program of International Studies encourages the student's research and analytical capabilities by involving them in the publication of a quarterly academic students' journal devoted to international affairs and Azerbaijan 's foreign policy as well as in the organization of round-tables, seminars and workshops through the Young Diplomats' Club.

The program in Azerbaijani Studies has been designed to give to local as well as international students a broad exposure about Azerbaijan and the region. It offers a thorough study of Azerbaijan , as well as the Caucasus historically and at the contemporary period from the perspective of international relations, economic integration, geopolitics and cultural tendencies. For international students, the Azerbaijani language is taught throughout the entire program.
