On December 18, 2019, Academician Kamal Abdulla, rector of Azerbaijan University of Languages, held a meeting with William Gill, chargé d'affaires of the United States of America, who was invited to the University for delivering a lecture within the project of “the Ambassador’s Hour”.

Rector Kamal Abdulla noted that the relations between the United States of America and Azerbaijan have a long history. He said that these relations are connected with the name of the national leader of the Azerbaijani people Heydar Aliyev. He noted that Azerbaijan has taken political, economic and cultural steps and is supported by the peace-loving forces. The rector emphasized that the personal initiatives of William Gill were important and useful in the in the process of development of the relations between the two countries. Kamal Abdulla expressed his gratitude to William Gill for accepting the invitation to deliver a lecture in “the Ambassador’s Hour”. He said that he hoped that the meeting would be beneficial for the students and interesting for the guest.

 William Gill expressed his gratitude for working in Azerbaijan. He said that he enriched his knowledge about the country during his activity. By emphasizing the fact that Azerbaijan is an important country for USA, William Gill also noted that the relations between these two countries are based on friendship and partnership.

After the meeting the guest answered the questions to the students, in which they were interested, within the framework of the “Ambassador’s Hour” project. Speaking about his diplomatic activity, William Gill gave advices on building a successful career.
